Which Wildlife Conservation Organization Should You Donate To?

Image
You may know some of the bigger organizations like   The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)   or   World Wildlife Fund (WWF)   or even   Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) . Lots to choose from, so how do you know which one to pick? Let us take a deeper dive into what they really stand for. WCS manages about 500 conservation projects in more than 60 countries all while educating millions of their online visitors and at their five living institutions.  Charity Navigator , a guide to intelligent giving, has given WCS a 96/100 rating on accountability and transparency. When donating to WCS, 47% of program expenses go to Global Conservation and Health Programs, 42.3% of program expenses go to Bronx Zoo and New York Aquarium, and 10.7% of program expenses go to City Zoos. WWF reports that they have doubled the number of tigers, empower people to protect wildlife, and have closed Asia’s ivory markets. When Is The Best Time Of The Year To Walleye Fish?

Image
What is the best time and season to go fishing for Walleye? Well this question has a couple answers. Spring is one of the best times to fish for walleye. Walleye feed during low light conditions (dusk and dawn). They also prefer feeding during windy and rainy conditions. Spring is also spawning season for Walleye. Remember to check the Department of Natural Resources for size charts and limits on fish for that state. Fall is another great time to go Walleye fishing. The cold water makes fish more enticed to eat and hunt. Walleye enjoy choppy water due to it making less light visibility in the water. This tactic is used as an advantage by the Walleye to get an edge on their prey. Thirty minutes before sunrise is a great time to aim for when fishing for Walleye. Walleye can feed through the night, but an hour after sunset is a good time to plan to pack in for the day. Seasons do change but not drastically. Fall tends to land in late September lasting until the last week of Dece

What is an Elk?

Image
The Elk or Wapiti is a large deer with a short tail and a prominent buff-colored patch on its rump. Together with the Sambar Deer and the Moose, this animal is one of the largest deer species in the world. Males have extremely large antlers, which usually start growing in the spring, being shed in the winter, while females have no antlers. Also, some individuals may grow thin mane on their neck. By the winter, the coat of these animals becomes thicker, in order to protect them from the cold. The winter coat of the elk consists of long, waterproof hairs, which cover the thick, wooly undercoat of this animal. The Newborn elk calves are spotted, losing their spots at the end of summer. The color of their fur depends on the habitat and season of the year. During the summer, their coat is reddish shade while in the winter their coat becomes lightish grey in color. Elks are social animals, gathering in summer herds that contain up to 400 elks. The matriarchy elk herd is led by a single cow

What We Do

Image
EZHNT BLOG is a conservation centric blog that advocates for outdoor sport. It provides information about how sport greatly contributes to the cause of conservation. We are here to encourage people to get outdoors and take advantage of the outdoor activities that help fund the efforts of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. It is imperative that we all work together to protect endangered species and their ecosystems. The money that goes towards licenses and tags to hunt, fish, and trap species with plentiful populations is used to directly fund the needs of species with less fortunate population numbers. These sporting activities are also a means of helping maintain healthy populations for the species that do thrive, thus, giving the species as a whole better and longer lives. We are trying to help keep our lands, water, and populations healthy for future generations of outdoor sportspeople.
